Early Childhood Writing Samples
Spring Samples:
English samples collected May 11-21. English spring prompt: school.
Spanish samples collected May 25-June 1. Spanish spring prompt: an animal.
Instructions:
Special stationary for the writing samples will be given to you in the fall and spring.
It is important to collect a sample from every student as close to the date assigned as possible.
On this assignment, work with students in small groups of two to four children at a time. Encourage children to do their best work, and let them know that they will not get these papers back.
Fill in all the information on the bottom of the back of the form (child’s complete name) and the areas mastered in the list of skills on the rubric.
Record the child’s writing stage in the box on the bottom left hand side of the form.
In the teacher comment section, please reflect on the child’s attitude toward the assignment and if it is typical of his/her approach to these assignments.
