Children's Day 2015
Egg Hunt Field trip Tips
- There are 40 seats on the bus. Each teacher can decide the number of mothers you would like to invite to accompany the group on the bus.
- Discourage helpers from bringing younger siblings. A day before your trip, leave the signed permission slips for your students with Erika.
On the day of your trip, please wait in your classroom until we call to tell you that your bus is ready. - On your way out the door, be prepared to tell security how many students and parents are accompanying you and the names of those children who are absent.
- Teachers board the bus first, then students, and once we have a head count, we will allow parents to get on the bus.
- Students should not sit in the front seats and should stay seated with seat belts on while the bus is in motion.
- Food consumption is not allowed on the bus and last year there were complaints that the seats were filled with candy wrappers and chocolate stains after some of our groups returned from the egg hunts.
Halloween Instructions:
Before the day of the parade, make a large sign that says your room number and the teachers’ names. Post it on a broom or yardstick or display it in a way so that it will lead your group as you parade around the track.
During the parade the following are not allowed. Please talk to students before hand so they are not disappointed to learn that the following are not allowed in the parade: no pets, no wheeled costumes (bikes, skates) and no throwing/passing out of candy.
Come dressed in costume on October 31st or come early and get dressed. Be ready to give students your full attention by 7:45.
Keep valuables locked up in cabinets when leaving the room.
Early Childhood will be seated by the parking lot’s rock wall. Please start out for the track to get seated at 8:15 a.m. The parade will start at 8:30 a.m.
Before and after the parade, please assist parents who want to take photos of their children and the group. During the parade, however, please help remind parents to stay off the track and field to photograph their children because this distracts our students and in many cases, blocks their view of the parade.
After the parade, go back to your individual classrooms for parties. Remind your parent-helpers that parking is a problem on this day and they should arrive early to set up the room. You’ll need the mothers to have the party ready by 9:30 a.m.
The seniors' special performance for EC students will be before 10 and no later than 10:15. We'll make an announcement when it's time to come out to see it. It should last between 8 and 10 minutes.
Recess will follow this schedule:
10:30 – 10:50 3, 6, 9
10:50 – 11:10 5, 7, 8, 10
11:10 – 11: 30 1, 2, 4
Assistants may stay in the room for the party and therefore: teachers and assistants must accompany their groups on the playground. Be extra conscientious about duty as the day has a potential for being more dangerous than usual.
Remind parents that it is an early dismissal and no childcare services are offered. Students should be picked up no later than 12:00. Parents may take children home early. You are free to leave when you your last student has been picked up.
Language Institute classes on Friday, Halloween have been moved to 12:00 pm.
